Well God had to prove he was right. After all, the angels were watching!
That is what the WT said. Which means God is a narcissist and has to look good in front of all the lowly angels.
jehovah reminds me of married couples who are having problems who decide to .
have children to improve their lot.. obviuosly jehovah can prevent pregnancy.. 1 samuel 1:5,6 .
but to hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, .

i think most of our imaginations of the new world was probably nothing like the watchtower reality.
after all, we jws are very good at avoiding uncomfortable truths!
you can tell micheal jackson was a certain type of jehovahs witness.
The 12 Apostates - You and I share that experience. It was a miserable life for me.
i've been having a conversation with a young jw on twitter and have, once again, come up against beliefs that do not match up with official watchtower doctrine.
if you like you can read the full thread here (you'll need to click on some comments to open it all up).. anyway the upshot is that this jw, and many like her, believe that only truly wicked people will be killed at armageddon - not innocent babies and children or anyone who "didn't know better" perhaps because they didn't get a witness.
it's as though they cannot accept the obvious injustice of jehovah's morality.. this jw teenager believes that all these non-jw's who survive armageddon will get their chance to prove their loyalty during the 1000 year reign of christ - again, not a watchtower teaching.. i don't really have a question to ask, this is just an observation.
From my own experience, and maybe because I wasn't among the "power" witnesses, I would say that many witnesses wanted to believe that God wouldn't just kill everyone. I myself thought about that quite a bit. But after awhile of trying to figure it out, you just shrug your shoulders because of course, God would never do something unrighteous.
There were also articles from the WT that gave wiggle room about who was to be killed during Armageddon. Like how it isn't up to us to read others hearts and that although the preaching work has reached many lands - the places where there are isolated indigenous people - well probably God wouldn't kill them because they may have good hearts. The biggest "get out of killing innocents" card is WE DON'T KNOW. This is very different from what was preached from the WT in the early days. They had that fire and brimstone attitude from the podium. Like anyone that dared not listen to us - Down They Go into Gehenna!
As they gradually realized that translated into regular JW's looking down on anyone that didn't take a magazine and not making an effort to convert them, it changed to "it's not up to us to say a person is a Goat!" Cause some did go around talking about how many "goats' were in the territory.
just ran across this beautiful example of circular reasoning from the watchtower.w85 12/1 31. .
questions from readers.
was the apostle paul part of the christian governing body?.
I was cleaning up around my house and came across the December 1, 1985 Watchtower in all of it's two color orange and black glory. As I looked thru it, I saw my underlined answers. Haha the lines were all wavy which means I probably did it in the car on the way to the meeting.
Are You Right With God? is the main article but I just flipped thru until I came to this part. Paul being a part of the GB. Don't you just hate the how it makes assumptions? Just a week or so ago, I was looking thru the Photo Drama of Creation someone had posted on here. In it near the end, was a "picture" of a first century congregation of International Bible Students Association - I kid you not! If their founder could make up such an eye rolling assumption, why not his "children"?
got a good joke or two?
why not share them.
here is a fun one.. retirement can be fun.
What do you call a cow that has just given birth?
Decalfinated
as a person that has recently come to terms with the reality that the truth is not really the truth .
does anyone else remember the feeling when they realized things were just not true.
it’s wierd all the years i spent preaching i never really considered what it must have felt like to have two people at your door trying to convince you that your religion of birth was a lie.
Waking up is like finding that the world you believed was flat, was really round. A lot of thoughts about your life - missed opportunities, what ifs.... and most importantly, what will you do now?.....
It's different for everyone. It may take months or years to really get your head around it. Hope your journey brings you happiness, sooner rather than later.
am a newcomer.
had a starnge metting in local news last night.. check it out.
actual info starts at 50;12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plxdjs13l0k.
Just the way the guy looks in the video snapshot is an indication of what kind of message he's pushing - crazy!
then new and improved purple song books that came out in 1966. then there was the brown song book and a even newer one in 2006. .
thousands of hours wasted singing those stupid songs and their stupid lyrics.. song 106 "watch how we walk and watch we talk.
i remember inserting different works in the lyrics to relive the boredom.
I remember the green one.
Take my silver and my gold, nothing lord would I withhold....
Not sure if this is the green one, but it had just a lot of repetition.
To the work, to the work oh you servants of God mmm mmm let follow the work that our master has trod..... Hastening on, Hastening on, Hastening on, Hastening on, Hastening on, Hastening on and going till the work is done.
Really wanted us to hasten on....

Almost 90% of the pictures are lifted from other sources. The crappy ones are made by the "artist" of the WT. Like all of the earth being made ones.
It's hilarious how pictures showing the nephilum takes place in a building that looks Italian, early bible characters are in Renaissance clothing. Especially funny is the picture of "Adam idealized" because he looks and dresses renaissance and it is the same picture that is used for Jesus later on (with a little tweaking)

Me and my sister went thru the pictures. Such Nudity! Such Lies! Such outright nonsense! My favorite was the belief of rings around the earth. Did you know that when the volcanic rock the earth is made of was hot, it pushed water and minerals into the atmosphere and became a "ring" around the earth? When the earth cooled, the centrifical force pulled it back to the earth..?
There was also a nice illustration of a flying pyramid with I think, God at the top.
You could also get a free lapel pin that showed you were a pax supporter. If you wore it you could get a discount on a bible so instead of $5 you payed $1.18 for it.
And did you know that the I.B.S.A. was there in the first congregations? Yes, they even have a picture of that! (IBSA - international bible students association)
